After Car Crash, Puppy Goes Running Down The Highway

There can be nothing more terrifying than seeing an animal run out into the street.

I saw this video this morning and just had to share it with you.  It is full of drama.  You will gasp, you will cheer, and you will watch in anticipation.  It is a great scene as if it were out of a Hollywood movie.

I know this happened some time ago, but the footage is just as relevant today.  The video starts with a news helicopter filming the scene of a rollover car accident on a busy California highway.  There you can see people on the side of the road being attended to.  And if you didn’t see the heading of this article or of the video you would just stop the video and go on with your day.  But at about 30 seconds into the video, the news helicopter refocuses and points the camera down the highway.

You can see a small little dog, like a puppy running down the highway as fast as he can.

Fortunately, the highway has been blocked off so there are no vehicles coming towards the dog.  Motorcycle police begin chasing down the dog in a pretty non-aggressive manner.  It seems like they were trying to give the dog space to run as long as he was safe.  But then the dog finds an opening in the barriers ahead and starts to run into oncoming vehicles.  That was when my chest started to tighten as I watched.  But those officers were amazing.  The way they handled the situation was smooth and calculating.  Eventually, one officer was able to chase the dog down on foot.  He got ahold of the dog and seems to be comforting the dog, trying to calm the dog down.

I just can’t image how thankful and relieved the people involved in the accident must have felt when they saw their little puppy come back to them safe.  Thank you, officers, for ALL you do.
