A New Life For An Abandoned Dog

Dog rescue stories are very popular right now.

And for a good reason….. these stories inspire us with the hope that there are still caring people and organizations in the world. If you can love a dog that will give unconditional love back to you, then you can love any person.

Here is a heart-warming story about a dog getting a second life. This is Zuzi, a little homeless dog who was living in the parking area of a company. The little dog spent the cold winter outside, with no shelter. She would sleep on the ground or on the cement. Zuzi would get leftovers from some of the employees, but there were also people who would chase her away.  Zuzi didn’t know who she could trust anymore. Every time we got near her she would start to bark defensively and even tried to bite us. We were told that she had some traumatizing experiences with the dogcatchers who would chase her and try to catch her with their catchpoles. So using a catchpole was out of the question.

Under the supervision of a veterinarian, we decided that the best solution would be to administer her a tranquilizer.

She eventually calmed down and allowed us to help her. She was full of fleas and had wounds caused either by excessive scratching or bites from other dogs.  Zuzi could then be taken to a local, caring shelter. There, she received the healthcare and nutrition she needed. No more sleeping on the cold cement for Zusi. She now sleeps on a bed with her name stitched in it. Surrounded by love, she is learning to trust humans again. Now that Zuzi’s physical and emotional being is healed she is ready to be adopted out to a new home.
