Sadly, No One Wants to Take a Chance on This Puppy Because of The Color of Her Coat

Discrimination is as foul and flagrant injustice that continues to plague American society. As we become a more globalized world, where multiculturalism is the norm, tolerance seems to be in short supply.

For one puppy named Gigi, she could tell you all about what it feels like to be discriminated against if she could talk. The fox terrier, who makes her temporary home at the high-kill, San Bernardino Animal Shelter(SBAS) in San Bernadino, California, is getting the reality check she never asked for.

Statistics show that dogs with darker coats, when compared to their lighter, and blonde coat counterparts, are euthanized at a higher rate in shelters across America second to only pit bulls. In certain cultures, animals with black coats are considered a bad omen, according to unfounded, superstitions that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Unfortunately for her, the sweet and charming Gigi has to pay for this type of hatred, with what may be her life. That’s because the SBAS gives dogs a few weeks, and sometimes even just days to find forever families before the unthinkable happens: euthanasia.

Fidonation, if you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup, who is beautiful inside out, the forever family she rightfully deserves, please contact the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter at (909) 384-1304 and reference the shelter ID #A502791.

Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Gigi a home. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
